Biophysical scoring ultrasound in rohini delhi Biophysical scoring test in delhi ncr C-8/193 sec 8 rohini delhi 110085 9811552279 7827070020 Biophysical scoring, or the Biophysical Profile (BPP), uses ultrasound to evaluate four fetal health parameters, combined with a nonstress test for a total score out of 10. The four ultrasound-based components are fetal breathing movements, fetal movement, fetal muscle tone, and amniotic fluid volume, each scored as either 0 or 2 points. A score of 8–10 is normal, while scores of 6 or less may indicate a need for further monitoring or delivery. Scoring components Fetal breathing movements: Measures rhythmic breathing movements over a 30-minute period. Fetal movement: Counts the number of discrete body or limb movements. Fetal muscle tone: Assesses the active flexion and extension of fetal limbs, like a baby flexing and extending its arms or opening and closing its hands. Amniotic fluid volume: Measures the amount of fluid surrounding the baby, typically by finding the largest pocket of amniotic fluid. Nonstress test (NST): A separate component that monitors the fetal heart rate's response to movement. This part of the BPP is often performed separately, but a good heart rate pattern scores positively. How the score is determined Each of the five components (four from ultrasound, one from NST) is given a score of either 2 (for normal) or 0 (for abnormal). The scores are added together to create a total score out of 10. Interpreting the results 8–10: Normal and reassuring. 6: Equivocal (uncertain). May require retesting in 24 hours. 4 or below: Abnormal. May indicate a problem and require more evaluation, such as delivery.
